That is really freaky!! Hope that doesn't happen when my sweet dun cuckoo pullet when she goes through her first molt!

Speaking of oddities . . What do you think about the color on this chick? The other 3 Mille Fleur chick's color looks the same, but this MF chick that hatched on day 23 is a completely different color.

These are the other 3~

the bottom 3 are what the down looks like on normal colored ones. The top ones down is usually seen on some of the lighter colored milles. then theres some very dark, they usually end up being the deep red looking ones.
all mille, just various shades.
as long as you have that lighter head on a darker toned body... it's mille

oh, God no.
I cant take the transgender chicken haha, but not the fungus!! lol

Oh, thought you'd like this photo of Aimee and Spike. They look like an old married couple conferring about something in this picture. The Buff Orp and NH chicks plus the porcelain are 5 weeks old and being raised by Aimee. (the label on the pic was showing a chick I thought as a cockerel, but may be a pullet after all--thought my Betsy was a Bubba almost from the start, the way it feathered).

Thanks Aubrey. I new it was a Mille, just thought the color might lean towards being a pullet. I like it because it is a different color than the rest of the chicks. Makes it stand out and be special.

I got home from a late ballgame and had one very upset Rusty. I went to close his house and he started talking yo and if I could understand chicken I'm sure he would be telling me something exciting. One of the girls was not on the roost. I thought she might have gone broody, but no she was missing. She was in a tree by the barn the first place I always look when one is missing at lock up. I took her to the coop and he settled down.

He was being a concerned rooster, doing his duties the way he should. Good boy (who'd ever think I'd be able to say that about Rusty?)

Hi everyone! I read quite a few pages on this thread,
and can't find any photos of the right age so I guess I'll just ask.
I think I have 2 D'anver chicks but I'm unsure....can anyone help?
Here they are..
Thanks! : )

looks like maybe a quail pullet on the darker one and a buff Columbian pullet on the light one maybe, a lot of back stippling for Columbian though. Ginger red would be another possibility, but kinda pale in tone for them.
