d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Thank you very much! So you do think they are d'anvers then? I was told they couldnt be because they have no beards. But when I got them as chicks I noticed my black one especially looked like a quail d'anver chick. I thought for sure they were both roos because of how spunky they are, though they dont have a comb, well very much of one anyway. Is that just a breed personality trait? Sorry, Im new to this. Im good with silkies, but this breed is very new to me. lol

That's what was throwing me off about them, the clean faces. The colors looked right, but the faces seemed odd. If they are rose combed and clean legged, then you could have just two clean faced ones, a definite fault certainly.

The males are usually very feisty, so yes, pretty much a breed trait for these.

Do they have a rose comb? They look similar to the quail Old English Game Bantams we got years ago, they have single combs. The stanch looks more d'Anver to me though.

They are clean legged. Dark clean legs.Though my gold and black one seems to have a bit of a green tint comming into play on his legs, just on the front part of the leg. After double checking online I believe they have a single. I really don't believe its a rose comb. They are soo tiny though that I will have to double check when I get home. Though I'm 99.9% sure it is a single comb.I'll have to look into the old english game bantams, I've never had them before either. Thank you both!

Thank you. Do you think a single comb would be more prominent in a rooster by now? They are very tiny, their feathers on their faces are about the same height if not a little longer then the comb, and they do not have any red tint at all. They just act very rooster like. Both love people and fly up on you.My mostle black one will try to chest bum your finger lol. And I'm not positive because I've never raised chicks from this little up before, but I believe they are trying to crow? If they aren't they may have something medically wrong lol but they get up ontop of my knee caps (one on each, everytime) and they stretch their necks out really far and open their mouths anddd..nothing comes out. They each do it a few times then normally my black one gets bored and leaves. They are about 7 weeks now though. Do you know much about OEGB and how fast you can normally tell gender on average?

That is probably not trying to crow. Usually, it's just something in the throat they are trying to dislodge, like a piece of straw or feed. Chest bumping is done by both sexes.

Well I believe we have a match. The chick there is identicle to one of mine when he was a baby. And the top one reminds me a lot of Izzy, my mostly golden one. They are very pretty birds, thank you!
