d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

I wish I lived closer. Would love some d'Anvers and so would my boy. Some day! Ones with mohawks would be even cuter.

I have a question about the porcelain color. Is it sort of like a BBS situation, where other varieties might pop up when breeding for porcelain? Are there other colors that you can breed with porcelains to still get (some) porcelains, or is that a bad idea?

Porcelains and Mille Fleur are compatible breeding colors because porcelain is just mille fleur with the addition of the lavender gene. I have my milles and porcelains together. Most of my milles are splits (visually mille, but 1/2-3/4 porcelain), so I get mille splits and porcelain chicks out of the breedings. I only have 3 hens, my originals, who are straight Mille Fleur.

According to Aubrey the buff Columbian rooster I hatched from his eggs carries porcelain, so bred to my porcelain hen will produce some of each color. My porcelain hen started laying again so I am thinking about separating them out together to hatch some chicks from them. Porcelain x Porcelain = 100% Porcelain.

Now, the dun quail when bred together can produce khaki quail which is a dilute like a splash colored bird in other varieties. I love my khaki quail colored d'Anvers and when bred together I got one solid khaki pullet which is beautiful!

Here is my solid khaki pullet chick~

This is her khaki quail sister~

Here is a dun buff Columbian cockerel from a khaki quail x dun cuckoo cross~

That's good to know since I hatched out 4 MF and 2 porcelain chicks from Aubrey's eggs

Hey, I think Ladyhawk's two "Cochins" are really not Cochins after all. Something tells me they are porcelain d'Uccles. What say you? As they grew, that shape, comb and the vulture hocks were making us suspicious. And I think they're both male, but I've only had one trio of these so not sure on that.

Vulture hocks, beard and that tail look d'Uccle to me.
