The bbr is the original chicken color. The color of the red jungle fowl whose mutations are responsible for every color and breed that exist today. It is the most basic color having only gold genes on an e+ allele(duckwing).
They're always cute, no matter what color they are.
Oh, Maura has two of the three chicks hatched, both hers. One is porcelain and one is mille. Now, the mille has to belong to Spike, my mille rooster, right, since Aubrey is porcelain and Maura is porcelain? Though, Maura's mother is Mina, who is a mille, but 1/2 porcelain. The last one is Mina's chick and the egg is pipped.
ETA: I forgot that Spike is also Mina's son out of Aubrey so he is 3/4 porcelain, though he's visually mille. Weird how that works out.
Here are Maura's first two hatchlings, both her own chicks; third egg (Mina's) is zipping now.
And the other four hoodlums being raised by Penny and Carly, getting that bug protein already. Aimee started clucking yesterday so I supposed she's going broody again, too.
The three porcelains all belong to Maura, the mille is Mina's.
Hi there. Anyone have any idea of what color this d'Anver is?
My daughter purchased him and two hens and is hoping to show them for 4H. I have researched the books and I just do not see this color other than a potential Porcelain.
I'm new to this breed and was wondering what their temperament and interaction with other bantams as well as LF birds is like?
Are they broody?
Is porcelain a APA and ABA approved color for them?
Thanks a bunch!!

Mine are very broody, is all I can say, though not all brood. Some are serial broodies, some never do it. The males vary, but most are grumpy and snarly like Aubrey said. I have one friendly one and he's the only one ever that's been like that, other than one that was just indifferent.
I don't show birds. My original stock came from BBB over three years ago and I still have one porcelain rooster and three mille hens from the first group, along with some of their progeny. My porcelain male hates to be touched and he used to be more aggressive than he is now, but mostly he ignores me/avoids me unless I bring in a camera. He hates the paparazzi. But, he's mellowed as he's aged. His son, Spike, is a really sweet guy, so they really vary. This is a really nice bantam breed. I'm not much of a bantam lover, overall, but I chose this breed to try and I still think I made a good decision with them, even if I decide not to continue. If that happens, it won't be because of the roosters, but just other factors.
