d'anver lovers,discuss the breed and post some pics!

Both my d'Anvers laid their first egg today, and oh my gosh I was not expecting them to be so big! One was 30 grams and the other was 27. Is that normal? They're not quite 7 months old. Will my pullets grow any larger? Because I feel like the eggs are disproportionately large compared to the size of the chickens laying them. Ouch!

Some are larger than others. My Aimee lays a fairly large egg, as does Sissy. Carly lays an egg so small, you'd never think a chick could hatch from it and she's almost 4 years old.

Well as soon as I turned them out the Silkie girls ran to him. I caught him trying to stalk me across the yard. He realized I had food and decided he would rather eat than fight. Although all the roos must be getting g spring fever because they were all sparing.

She's blue quail

. The funny thing is that I actually wanted black quail, but there were only blues and splash. They were so cute and I was so desperate for d'Anvers that I took them anyway, and now I absolutely love the dilutes.

Schip, she is absolutely STUNNING! I adore that color on her. If I was in the market for another D'Anver color variety, that would probably be the one.

Oh my lord. I have to find some of them now. I have splash (previously referred to as porcelain... Colors weren't coming in right and, well, learned my lovely Sweet Pea is splash, and that's OK!) babies, and I love them. Such a wonderful temperament, and totally adorable.

No worries schipalong.... Blue quail to blue quail will make all 3 versions for you. 1/2 blue and 1/4 each in the black and splash versions on average... You should see my dun and khaki quail if you like the dilutes... Working on lavender quail too thanks to a start I got off JJ. .

Finally started getting a few eggs this week. Wont be long now and ill be getting around 200 a day again.....

+2. Would have to see that to know if I'd want the blue or lavender quail. But, wait, I'm not getting more D'Anvers. Hey, maybe someone will make blue or lavender quail in a LF version. Aubrey, to quote Jean-Luc Picard, make it so!

Can you think of a LF breed with rose comb, clean legs and that coloring?
