Cyn, not sure if you have had any luck in getting Maura healed up, but I read an interesting article in Backyard Poultry about how an ingrown feather could cause infection and create a huge cyst like that. Didn't know if she might be doing any spring molting or not, but it made me think of her when I read it. Poor girl!

If it's a feather, I can't find the source. And I'm leery of actually cutting it open. On a tiny bird like that, it's a big percentage of her body size. I've seen ingrown feathers on other birds, but nothing like this. They are all molting right now, seems like, in that coop.
