d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Hi all!

I got some amazing D'anver eggs from Boggy Bottom Bantams this year. They are adorable, and soooo tiny! They are really tiny next to my big girls.

I was wondering if everyone's adult birds are able to eat Layer pellets. They are on crumbles right now as they are young but the are so small I am worried they won't be able to eat the food my large fowl eat.

If they can't, I'll make a creep feeder for them and give them crumbles (otherwise the big girls will steal all the crumbles).

I use mini-pellets from Tucker Milling, but they eat whole kernel corn out of the scratch mix, much larger than any layer pellet, so they can eat layer pellets when grown with no issues.

Thanks! Guess I'm worrying about them too much.

We just got some little lavender chicks from a breeder nearby, they are the cutest little buggers. One of them is a little bit yellow, and one is a little bit runty/not as puffy as the others but has very quickly developing wing feathers. They alternate between loving/cuddling up and being scared silly of us.

Oh my gosh, so cute!

Thanks! They are disgustingly cute and tiny little beggars for cheese.

Would you happen to know genetics behind why one of them has kind of a lemon yellow tint along the chest? She/he has also a more yellowy beak and feet but the same beetle black eyes. Quite a lovely pastel. I don't know if it will remain in adult plumage. I thought lavender was pretty straightforward, but maybe not!
