ep, they can still trick you at that age, but pretty sure it's 4 and 3 over all. you could seperate the mf boys and just use the porcelain cock that way you'll have all mf split to lav for sure and pure porcelain from the pair, the ol man most likely doesnt want to hear that though, LOL

I have two gorgeous little quail d'anvers from my pet chicken, as well as a mixed bunch of other banty and standard layers.
One of the d'anvers is super tiny.
By super tiny I mean much smaller than the other one, much smaller than my two millies and much smaller than the buff brahma - all are banty and all are small in size compared to the standard hens, but what I am tying to say is this one d'anver is half all the other bantys size wise.
They all came the same day so can't be more than a day or so apart in age.
They are all about two weeks old and this one is still just the size of a golf ball with feet.
She (?) seems to be eating and drinking and pooping just fine.
Is this huge difference in size something you have heard of before - like a minibantam or something?
Does this breed have extra teensy tiny babies as a norm?

One of my Mille Fleur D'Anvers is very tiny as well, hatched the same day as the others. So super tiny!


BTW, Aubrey, I swear, I now think I have only two pullets! Both porcelains have pink combs and three of the Milles. They are going to drive me nuts before it's all said and done, but I'll add those two other girls to that coop and if they are not aggressive breeders like you mentioned, then maybe it will all work out okay. I'm in no hurry to get rid of even one of these since I waited so long for them! The standards, on the other hand, I want to get rid of my extras the minute I know who is male and who is female and I'm close to that now with most of those, at four weeks of age.

I just love my d'Anvers! The Quail are the most friendly and inqusitive but the Porcelain are so pretty! I unfortunately had to cull one of the Dun Quail that I have been nursing since the day after it arrived and he/she just kept going backwards. I really miss that little one. Very pretty Dun color too

The rest are great and cannot wait to see how they turn out. Really enjying having them in my 3 season room and very accesable for talking to and tending.
