Yep that is what I thought too. Males have big "blob" looking spots and females have "dots".Gosh I hate to have rocks thrown at me, but, the Cuckoo chicks with the larger white spot on head will always be BOYS!

The hen color can vary and the legs will turn slate as they age.Looking closer, yes, the pale yellow chick does look like the ones you posted JJ, and the brown ones sort of have caramel-colored cheeks, if that makes any sense? They are so cute, I can't stand it!![]()
The feet and legs are sort of an orange color. Very pretty! Will they turn slate-colored later?
I've seen photos of light and dark mille fleur roosters (like SpeckledHen's Spike and Rusty). Do the hens come in light and darker mille, too? What adorable chicks they are!
I have a link that explains with pictures. I have one very black Cuckoo chick with no dot at all and a few with scattered silver and one with a tight dot. With that said this link also speaks of leg and toe color for barred birds.Yep that is what I thought too. Males have big "blob" looking spots and females have "dots".
Congratulations on a great hatch!Looking closer, yes, the pale yellow chick does look like the ones you posted JJ, and the brown ones sort of have caramel-colored cheeks, if that makes any sense? They are so cute, I can't stand it!![]()

I think dun is like blue can run from light to dark.
The last one hatched after midnight so still in the bator. I did get a surprise. The bluish quail chick. It is not the same as the dun quail. The Cuckoo and Dun Cuckoo look the same to me. As they mature I will be able to see the difference. I tried banding them as they hatched. My bands are to big. Better pictures later after coffee and a shower.
Say a little prayer for our shipped babies. They are late!![]()
