d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

well I did take a few pics Monday while I was off, has just taken me til now to get them on the computer, havent culled out the "action" shots or anything yet so if ones bad blurry just ignore it, yall all know how taking chicken pics can be !!

heres the dun mottled pullet. still very young but I am so proud of the color that I just wanted to share it with yall. I love a chocolate any thing

here's a bit more of the buff columbian pullet progress. If yall will flash back 2-3 years and oh 80 pages or better on here, you'll remember the original F1 cross gilrs were almost like a pale bb red in color with a lot of back stippling, this is what I have mentioned in a few post as they are cleaning up

the few F4 pullets from this year are crystal clean buff and only have black in the tail tips and hackle FINALLY!

Here's and F3 from last year, she was really close too

this little one is from this year

the pair of them

I know this one is totally unrelated, but I remember some one asking what the lemon cream looked like on a red pyle, sorry cant remember who, but did at least think of the request haha

here it is on a couple phoenix..hard to see it correct in certain light, the pyle white parts and the cream hackle can blend it

he really didnt want to cooperate but here's the F4 red pyle rooster

They are beautiful Aubrey! I was the one asking for pictures of the lemon cream Phoenix and Dun mottled. I am going to have to have some of those Dun mottled!! Like you, I love the chocolate colored birds!! Thanks for posting pictures!

Your buff Columbians are looking good. You can see in my pictures that my chick has dark red feathers . . rooster? I am thinking so. My favorite colored chick so far is the Dun Cuckoo Quail. I love the golden face with the Dun color. Have you thought of perfecting that color? See how different the color is on the two Khaki Quail chicks? One is almost cream colored. I am thinking that is a pullet and the dark one a rooster. When I took them outside they were so calm being handled and enjoyed being petted. They are the sweetest breed!

Oh, I forgot that I also took pictures of my Porcelain pair today also. Thought Warmheart would like to see my sweet boy

My pair of Porcelains~

thought it was but couldnt remember. yes on the chicks if they tend to show red, it's pretty safe to say they are males, havent had any red on a pullet since the first cross.

on the barred dun quail, oh yes, they are on the list. wasnt something I set out for, but more less was a by product of the dun cuckoo, so ,,,, you know me, what they heck, lets try that! haha...

would like to see some recent pics of them, and to see how the 2 khakis are coloring up, cant wait to get a khaki barred going too... figured I'd have one by now as many dun's as I have breed

haha I'm retarded that way
No your not! You posted, then I posted the pictures and it changed to a new page. Once I posted on that new page, the pictures were already in the past

Those aren't very good pictures anyway, especially of the khaki quail chicks. The lighter one doesn't hold still for one minute! I forgot to mention (if you enlarge the picture you might see it too) that the darker of the two khaki quail chicks appears to have some lacing to the feathers on its back. Very pretty!

I will try to get some better pictures of the khaki quails. I am so happy with all the cool and unexpected colors I got!

Aubrey, the phenomenal beard and sturdy build on the buff is AMAZING! Reminds me of the European show pics. Nice, nice bird!

Gillyfleur, Those babies are adiorable! I love the lavender cuckoo color. How very pretty they are now, and I can only imagine how gorgeous they'll be as they mature!

Chickee, your porcelain boy is so handsome! What a doll he is. He's quite the looker! Does he have a name? :)

My d'Anver babies are three weeks today! They've got the d'Anver fan tails now, and their irises to their eyes are becoming lighter and more distinct. I can see the tiny bumps on their emerging combs, too, and their legs are growing more dusky than pale now.

One little chick scared the pants off of me the other day. She was dustbathing while we were all outdoors on a field trip in the yard. Gradually, she rolled onto her back, feet in the air, and just... stayed that way!

I'd seen a dear, recently-rescued hen die of pneumonia in March, and the experience looked similar, so I was horrified! But the tiny chick was just feeling the warm sunshine on her tummy and fell asleep-- upside-down!
