d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Now Cynthia, you know design is a process and cannot be rushed.
Yeah, yeah, well, Mr. Artiste, I'll look forward to your entry.

By the way, I decided that I will give those two pair of D'Anvers away. I hate to do that, since there are two beautiful pullets about ready to lay, but no one has shown one bit of interest other than a couple of folks way across the country. Just letting folks know this would be a great time to acquire nice breeding stock, though the two cockerels have feather stubs on the legs, the pullets are clean legged.

so my DS(11) was looking through our SOP the other night and asked about the d'Anvers bantams- quail color. Are they a good simple breed for a youth to work with? He has tried a couple of other breeds in the past couple of years and ended up getting frustrated as with both groups we had problems getting eggs to hatch. His sister(13 years old) also shows chickens-only LF and does pretty well so there is some competition on his part with her. Thxs!

I can't say about showing them. Most of the males are pains, with a few exceptions. This guy is the son of my Aimee, who is sitting next to him (note the Kentucky Leg Fungus, JJ) and he is a PITA! He used to be my buddy, raised by a LF broody with his sister, but now, he thinks he can take me on. His younger brother chases him off when he gets snarky with me, though, lol.
