d'anver lovers,discuss the breed and post some pics!

You were in my neighborhood! I live in Talent (4 miles north of Ashland). Interesting that your experience is with "pit bull" d'Anver roos--my experience is with (some) pit bull d'Uccle roos. Or one at least. I have one d'Uccle that can bruise my ankles pretty badly if he sneaks up on me. The rest are sweethearts. I have two d'Anver roos who will occasionally "bop" me on the leg, but they are not that into following through on the threat. My project d'Uccle/d/Anver roos are all sweethearts to me, but very aggressive to the other boys. I have to watch them, one banged up one of my d'Uccle boys pretty badly. My gosh the mixed boys are gorgeous though! Here's a pic:

Oh he is a handsome boy...I had some gorgeous crosses s well and they were all little loves to me and so so on territorial issues.

Adorable chicken tote.....yes Pocket Penny and Lucy Goosey need one Cyn.

Monday is Day 10 and we still have 14 eggs going strong and 2 that I'm not sure what the heck is going on in there. There is something, but the veins are too faint for my taste. No blood rings in them but they aren't quite right. Tossed the others after recandling to verify they had passed on at some point or never developed.

I have 2 that are literally dancing in the eggs at 11 days. And a bunch that were doing nothing.

How did you know they had quit?

A distinct blood ring all the way around the egg with no veining coming down from the air cell tells me the embryo died. A couple were murky with no discernible veins whatsoever, so they probably quit before the veins were even set up well. By this stage, there would be veins galore all over the egg surface underneath the shell.

Will anyone in the Seattle area have d'anver hatching eggs for sale later this spring?

I'd like to hatch 1/2 dozen lavender, blue, porcelain, and/or quail d'anvers this spring, however I only have broody hens and so need to be able to pick them up within a day or two of them going broody (likely March or April.)
