Nice birds, let me guess, yall got them from Linda Blackman, Karl Rau, and or John Glowa didnt you? They are all breeders in your area at least.
Glad your daughter is doing well with them, tell her to keep up the good work!!

The self blues came from Linda, the millies and porcs came from Karl and the quail, one roo from Linda but most of the quail and mottled my Daughter had eggs shipped in from Kathy in VA.

ha ha,
I thought so, my self blues came from Linda too and they are beautiful.
I got some mottleds from Kathy too a few years ago, but Lord they were very poor quality, all looked to be mixed with old english or something. How did yall's turn out?
Not saying a bad word one about her, she's very nice and generous, but ended up giving all those away. Hopfully she's fixed that with them.

Tom Shepherd brought me those porcelains, millies, and whites today, my God they look great! Especially the white and millie cock birds, excellent breeder quality.
Will try to get some new pics of them up while I'm off this week, if I get time from the pen building that is, that's got to be done now, they are out growing the brooders fast, 300- 400 of them too!!!

Keep the post and pics a coming

What a wonderful breed!

This is my one and only ginger. This chick has more personality than a lot of people do!

First two pics with large combs are roos, all others are pullets, that comb is a dead give away on d'anvers some times the color isnt as they change a lot while they are growing

just an update, was crossing my dun quail and mottled recently to work on dun mottled, and one of the first ones to hatch today was a solid dun! Finally have a solid to work with, also had 5 more that were mottled f1's, so hopefully next year will wrap up both colors!!
Also had some lavender patterned buff columbians hatch today and the start to my red pyle project hatched, will take a few years to get them right as they were the only out cross I've had to start with, But am glad to see that the F1 cross did yeild red pyles, that will save 2 years of back breeding.

Dub cuckoo first round should start to hatch next week end
oh and also had some blue reds come out on the F1 cross right off the bat a few weeks bad, got lucky there.

That's all for now, very excited about all this

Congrats Aubrey, Yep I would expect mostly solid duns from the Dun Quail X mottled, they will probably have some gold leakage though. If thats the case you should get some desent Dun Cuckoos in the F1 cross if you did, Cuckoo roo on Dun G hens, or switch it and make sexlinkeds and just use the Dun Cuckoo males from those to breed back to the pure Cuckoos and use the solid pullets for another dun project, but the Dun Cuckoos should be easy since you're not messing with recessive genes. Go ahead and make some Silver Dun Quails while your at it too if you arent already. ( Silver Quail roo on Dun Quail hens = all pure Silver and Silver Dun Quails.)

Did you use the Red Pyle OEs to bring the Dom White to the BBRed dAnvers ? Those should be nice looking birds too.

Remember we need some pics as soon as the patterns start coming in on everybody. And the phoenix too.

Good luck
