Thanks Aubrey! I'm one of those poor slobs in Virginia who can't get your birds shipped in. I found a breeder/exhibitor near the coast. Her birds are really nice. This pair is young so I'm looking forward to seeing how they mature.

In the meantime I am trying to figure out how best to get my states' regulations to be more in step with the rest of the country. Some hobby person bringing in a few eggs or birds is not a menace, for goodness sakes!

Yep, very true, dont know why they have to be so strict. Hawaii is the only one more strict than VA.
Hopefully yall can get is fixed, the animal service office there did tell me they had plans to drop 1-2 of their requirements, they need to do it quick...

My new friends. I brought them home from the Ohio Poultry National.

<3 Those birds! Is it just me or does it look like Agatha and Audrey have black skin, like a silkie would? Either way I really like it,

As I gave all three baths and blew them dry this morning, I can attest that the skin is, in fact, not black. They are just deep dusky gray feathered. Oh, they all loved the blow dryer.

yep, blue and black feathered birds often look darker skined than they really are, especially around the face area due to the beak and all being dark as well. If you dig into the body feathers, you can better see the true skin color on the d'anver, as the legs are slate blue- black as well

I love that picture of Hercules....... you should submit it for picture of the week!!! Gorgeous birds........ so do the mottleds have dark faces as well?

Not as much as the solid colors do, I have pics of them on the first few pages to refer to. Mainly depends on what color feathering dominates that face, more white, lighter look, more black darker

Thanks, BBB!

Today, my d'anver is officially integrated into the flock with the big girls!!!!!!!!!!! She's still getting picked on a little, but she isn't bleeding at all, like my buff cochin did when she was put in. I'll have to get some pictures................
