d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

I think it is harder to breed a quality Blue Silver Quail than it is a regular Silver Quail, but they sure are pretty. Seems like I have a real problem with red popping up in them even when they are pure for silver - but it is never a creaminess in the lacing - it is usually part of the center of the feather - the blue part - where I keep getting oranges and redish hues mixed in the blue ground color. Maybe it's just my lines, a bug to work out of them. When you get some, please post some pictures. And I would love to see a Lavender silver quail!

we'll do Krsten,
Hopfully I wont run into that, havent so far. Got what I hope is my first lavender mottled hatching this morning, looking forward to that, my luck it'll still be black mottled as they'll make some of both still.
The blacks spilit to lav and silver quail havent laid bu 1-2 eggs so far, but once they get going, this year should finish them too, so I will be happy to post some pics once I get them.
This will be FI year for the blued, so it'll be next spring before I hatch the blued silver , but will keep ya posted on what they turn out like.

No, Adam! You have to get them from me because you still owe me a visit.

Well, well, you finally decided on some bantams. I am so happy! And I would love to come down and pick some up and pay you and Tom a visit, it is long over due. Are you getting eggs or started stock?

no problem Adam, swing by Cynthia's first though so she dont get mad!

I did hatch my first completed lavender mottled today, very happy about that, come out just like it was supposed too, now if I can just get about 20 more of them this year I'll be happy.
Finally got threw with all the pen stuff and been reworking the website, so plan on getting all those new pics this coming weekend if this nice weather holds out.
Yall all be sure to check back some time the first of March, I hope to have them loaded on here by then. Going to completely retake some of all of them.

Aubrey is supplying me with some eggs from his awesome porcelains in about three weeks, Adam. Can't wait! We have a foundation for a new coop just for them (then DH's back went out and we're losing this warm weather while poor Tom is on pain meds).

Thanks,
got a feeling there's going to be a lot of culling this year with all the color projects going, but it's fun.

Oh Cynthia I am sorry, I hope he is better soon. Congrats on the new coop. Unfortunately now that I have new neighbors that HATE my chickens so we are a strict 1 rooster household. My flock of Blue Wheaten Amers. are now living with a good friend about an hour outside of the city, they are doing well but I miss my boys. Just Big Guy (my tiny Speckled Sussex Roo) and his girls now. I am getting some Wyandottes from Jesse Paul and I may order a couple polish hens for fun but I haven't decided yet. I have got to get moved out of the city!
