Sorry, this isn't the best picture, but I think you'll see what I'm talking about with the tail feathers. They have the shaft, but no actual feather till closer to the end of the shaft on this porcelain. Is that one of those feather quality things to do with the lavender gene, perchance?

na, just juvinile feathering, pluck thyem out and they'll grow back good ones. Phoenix will often do that too. They will have a juvenile feather that just starts to grown in to an adult feather, with be fat and full on bottom, but have a thin scraggly chick feather on the tip of it. Once plucked (because for so reason it didnt molt naturally) they always grown back out correct.

How long does it take for the feathers to grow back? We got a trio of Quail d'Anvers over the weekend and some of the cockerel's tail and wing feathers are looking worn.

These are all from Boggy Bottoms; figured it'd be fun to show off my chicks too. All hatched on Easter, some the dsay before, but it was fun nonetheless!!

Now I know this isn't their permanent color but I have 3 and all are different, namely one spotted one. I assume this is just something that happens, here is a picture:

The three Porcelains I have are all similar, but one has chipmunking. What that all about:

Mix of all of them, plus their hatch mates which are Orp-Chantecler crosses.

4Hdad, nice Quail d'Anvers. Not sure about the feathers, I would say after the next molt they should grow back nicer with any luck.

adubsriot, nice babies! I just love how tiny they are! Thanks for the pics

I have a group from Boggy Bottoms Bantams that are growing quickly and I cannot wait to get them outdoors to enjoy their new life.
