d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

just a litle bit of advice, DO NOT FEED PURINA FEED. Purina is the most advertised and lowest quality feed you can get. I have had dozens of birds die because of lack of nutrients on purina feed. A few years ago our whitetail deer were dying and we didnt know why, long story short, the food contained beef fat the deer could not digest it and died. I feed kalmback, ITS AMAZING, more expensive but they eat less. Its only available in 8 states though. kent is another good choice.

Aubrey, sorry I haven't gotten you any new pics of the kids. They're doing great! The girls are all in the nest boxes every day, acting hormonal. They're 20 weeks old so shouldn't be too much longer for eggs, I'd think, not the way they're acting. Penny is still Penny, LOL. I love that little girl. Rufus is the coolest little man. He'll let me pick him up and rub his beard so he's the calmest of the four boys. They sure crow their hearts out every morning, but they all wait for daylight, unlike my big roosters.

I use Tucker Milling 16% mini-pellets, which are the perfect size for bantams. They are not dusty, have porcine protein and cost me $11.50 now, which is about $2 more than they were a year ago.

I drive 1 1/2hr to buy a 50lb bag of organic layer mash (15% protein) from the Amish for $11.25. With only three little banty hens, it lasts a very long time.

Well, I tried. Between Penny flying onto the arm holding the camera and Rufus picking at my shoe laces, it was hard to get pics. Ones of Carly were all blurred and Aimee just was out of range of the camera, but got the rest of them.

and Penny the Pet, or Pest, whichever-both fit! She is blurry because she's too close! I think her coloring is really nice.

knew you couldnt stand it too much longer. They finally look awesome now dont them, got out of that teenager stage finally.

Still love that darkest millie male, wish he had a little better comb, but his mottling is coming in nicer with every pic.

Glad they are doing so well.

by the way, our feed is $15 a bag also, but I buy it by the ton and get it for $10, or $400 a ton (40 bags)
unfortunately, that only last 3.5 - 4 weeks...sure wish they'd find something other than corn to make gas out of...killing me

I think I have most of them figured out but thought I would get some other opinions. My camera is not very good and a chick is a hard target to shoot but I tried.
