d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

We had one 32* night and it's gonna be 72 today. Ya all need to move up here to Indiana!

So far here in Northern Kentucky we have had one night below freezing....was 31 degrees the other morning but after Thursday all low 30s at night for rest of week.

Now Cynthia I am not posting pics of all your birds here in Aubrey's thread but there are special ones and Zane is very very special. That toerag is gonna get his wing ripped out by My Little Love and he will deserve it. 1 lb menace needs to behave himself and My Little Love will not be forced to used him as a clay pigeon.

Aubrey I just chatted with my father who is just south of Melbourne/Cape Canaveral Florida and he said he had to get out his "old man" socks for the morning and usually it is January before he has to find those things. Hahahahahaha

I cannot control my dreams Cyn but I shall put in a request for one of Suede and Zane surfing a nice wave for ya and see what I can do. They did enjoy snowboarding so surfing would be good fun too me thinks.

Well, if we have the winter to end all winters, it wouldn't surprise me. Seems my life is going that direction anyway lately. Bad week, losing my blue Orp, Smoky, to crop stasis that couldn't be fixed, having to rehome my neurotic Olive Egger pullet who just started laying nice dark eggs a month ago, and having to deal with Rusty the Ridiculous flying at my face, bad little snot. If my life keeps up as it is, I'll end up with ONLY D'Anvers and keep them in a nice, roomy coop so they don't even have to be let out during the winter and I can stay inside by the wood stove, toasting my tootsies till spring and making quilts.

Yes, my Zane is very, very special. He'll turn 4 years old in November. Amazing that he still seems to get enjoyment from life in his situation.

Oh now Cyn, you can come visit me and I will stoke the fire for you and share an extra pair of sock boots with ya. Nice non-skid soles and crocheted feet and calves, very toasty on the toes.

And you can hold the beautiful Zena...bring Rufus too he will like the wood stove and I can bring him a beautiful d'uccle girl to play with while he visits. *snicker*

Now, Rusty (originally said Rufus-bad mom!) + wood stove may = roast D'Anver if he keeps up his attitude, LOL. key west chick wants a D'Anver rooster and if she wants to take a chance on a little snot-rag, I may let him go live with her. This week has been so exhausted, Rusty is on my last nerve, even though he is only 1.5 lbs of overrated menace.

*Edited to correctly name the menace to be roasted.

Hi all, I see the rooster fight is still on.

I have been looking at egg candling pictures on here, to get re-acquainted with what they look like, it's been a while since we candled on the farm, when I was growing up.
Getting ready for my egg babies from Aubrey to arrive, can't hardly wait, I'm just too excited over this adventure.

Been gathering all the info. I can on here, to refresh my memory, I want to have all my bases covered before they arrive.

If anybody has any little tidbits they want to throw my way, have at it, I'm open.

From what I have read so far, I should be able to know for sure which ones are still viable by day 5-7. I don't have an actual candler, some are saying to use a flashlight. Any particular kind? Do you all use flashlights? What's best for the best results?

You all may as well get ready, I'm gonna be wild till they actually hatch..

I'll probably be on here every couple days asking questions.
