HAHA, yep, JJ has been after some for a while... You didnt by chance ask Tom how long it took me to get him some did you JJ? He waited 2 years I think for that trio. He wouldnt take eggs or chicks though, just wanted some good grown birds. I've got to rebuild mine too this year, getting scary low in them. Lost a male the other day, which hurt, thankfully he was one of the lesser ones, and was pretty dang old too, think that's what got him. That was the first color I started with actually and he was one of the originals.

We'll get yall both some though, Think Ol Do's on that list too though, so yall gonna have to work together on it. Looking like normal, they'll be sold out before I ever adverstise them again this year. In all these years with them, I think I have been able to get 1 auction for 6 eggs on ebay for them.... Wish they were all that way, would love to avoid ebay if possible. HAHA

We were standing around ( Jeff Brandon and I ) talking about the plethora of colors you have and would love to see more of them shown so we could get more folks interested in the breed.

Aubrey, Me and Tom talked about how long it took to get them. I got a cockrel from him, I think it was the best one he had, it had the least amount of rust stains. He had a new trio that he said came from up north, they look realy good. He also bought those two pullets that were at the crossroads show. I tried but couldn't talk him out of a pullet. But I will get started on them in the spring, I am going to put two quail hens and two splash quail hens with my cockrel. That way I will be able to keep the chicks seperate with out having two pens. Then maybe I can get some eggs from you to throw in the mix.

Yes, Jeff is a good guy too. He's working on a nice collection too. I too wish more of these colors would get out there. Think it takes 4-5 breeders with X amount of breeder birds going to get a color recognized. Would like to plan a role in getting that done with some of these. You're right, the more that work with them and stir the breed around, the more they will get seen, thus the more that will want to work with them.
That's kinda been my goal all along, to get them out to as many as there are willing to work on them. Wish more would do color work with them too... I need some help HAHA
It's fun to me, but most just want a finished true breeding bird where they can go straight to the show ring with them.

I feel those that take time to breed for what they want in them tend to have a greater appreciation for them though when they are done.

I know I am new at this, but I decided before I got my first bird that I didn't want to buy show birds and I am not going to show one untill it is my fault it is good enough to show( so that could take a while). But I figured that would be the the best way to get an education.

I agree with you. We should be able to work on getting the silver quail recognized soon. I know of at least 5 breeders that have them now and quiet a few more that want them.

I also am trying to help you with the buff situation and I will try to take you a picture of my buff birds I am going back with.

I have one pair of blues left and both are good quality, I just cant decide if I want to keep them and mess with them or not. There is not very many breeders around the south that have them any more and I know as soon as I get rid of them I will want them back.

I took some pictured from todays show of the blue and the selfblues and I need to send you some to check out. I am really excited about the buff project and getting rolling and I know you are going to help me out with that later on this spring right

We actually showed a pair of silvers in the show today just to let them get more views on them. For some reason we tried some conditioner on a few of the birds and it turned the male yellow/brassy on some of his feathers, and it came up quick. So note to self.........no more of that.

BUT......lets get it rolling.

What all do you have to do to get a colore recognized?

yep, that's a good way to do it. BUT dont get me wrong, I dont mean it's wrong to show others birds. But like you were saying, when you know you personally are responsible for that bird being here, it does mean a little more to you as the breeder. At least I think so
