d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

yep Misty, that'd be my best advice, breed them and keep tabs on what happens, either way they arent a certain Known color, but IF they breed true, they can become one!!
Thanks on the Feather site comment. Got to looking, they used some from all my stuff, d'anvers, phoenix, creveies, houdans, silkies, etc Pretty cool

Laura Lee....where have you been?? You get on me for not being here 24-7 now...I was beginning to wonder about you haha

Oh you're gonna have at least 1 toe rag in there for sure, odds are just stacked against you. I seem to find certian colors tend to be a bit worse, but may just be the lines too, or individuals. I've never had a nice black or blue, period, mottled pattern birds run both ways, nice or mean as gfhfjgk. Black mottleds are all toe rags, quail colors usually arent too bad, 1 in 5 or so may be. oh and the bb red and ginger red are little hellions. Aside from that, most of the others arent too bad. Barred colors, whites, columbians, and duns have never shown any signs of aggression, SO FAR.

NanaKat,

glad you found the thread or at least posted on it finally, welcome to it. That is a good looking male you got, I've always heard good things about Bob's birds, especially his blacks, though I have never seen any in person.. He looks about perfect though. Congrats on him

Thank you both. I have never been to a poultry show other than the state fair when I was much younger. The huge show in Oklahoma was an excursion of eye-opening proportions....soooooo many lovely birds and such wonderful friends from BYC to finally put faces with names. Then to have a nice conversation with a gentleman by his trailer in the parkinglot as I admired his birds...and spotting this lone black bird and talking with the owner about the bird was a real treat. I was floored when he offered me this young cockeral to take home. Then he introduced himself to me. It was not until I got home with the LilGuy and looked up Bob Bridges on the internet that I realized what a tremendous gift I had received. What a great way to start a new breed program. LilGuy has a really spunky attitude too....will flog your hand but when you pick him up, he handles nicely and settles down.

Kathryn! You have D'Anvers! I'm so happy we share yet another interest! He's a looker, that one.

Yes Cyn...yet another interest. Along with our love for quilting, we will soon have Porcelains and MillieFleurs too. I've ordered eggs from Aubrey. I've enjoyed lurking on the thread and reading about your little birds.
We also ordered some eggs for Black for LilGuy to have some companions and some BB Red and Buff Columbian and Ginger....stepped off big time into Bantams.

Glad to have you on board, Kathryn!

Hi there! Here are my two 8 week old D'Anver babies I got from BBB. Hatched three out of six under my broody OEG, then lost one a week after hatching.
I have a few questions...
Was wondering if anyone can tell if male/female yet?
Also I know one is white, but don't know for sure if the other is lav cuckoo or straight lav. Both looked the same when they hatched.
Lastly, one is double the size of the other. It's a fatty! Is that normal? The white one hatched last, 12 hours after the other one, if it is the lav. cuckoo.
Love these birds, so sweet!

Thanks in advance for the replies!

Looks to be a lavender cuckoo, but I'm sure BBB will answer soon.

What is everyone's d'anvers favorite things (Ie, Scratches on their chest, teats,)?

Mine loves a good hackle scratch and popcorn or peas.
