d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Do you use those outside brooders that you posted a picture of, this early in the year?

jj

yep year round. I just bump up to a 250 watt heat lamp and wrap them in heavy plastic and cover the bottom with cardboard, stays nice and toasty in them even in the low 20's. I use to keep them in a brooder in the spare bed room....good god I'm glad I dont do that any more. A box of 10 -20 aint bad, but a full blown brooder with a couple hundred in it....you never get the dust out of the house seems like.
My wife LOVED those days...

Cetawin, you kill me! Stay on 'em and keep 'em acting right!!!

No taters and no biscuits...take your whoppin like a real man. They are gonna be small but fierce ...when they get you on the ground it is all over for ya then! So just keep picking on my boy Rufus and his upcoming brood, they will learn ya when you least expect it. Remember that old saying about old age and treachery

I have eggs due to hatch in a week. They are silver quail, black, and buff. I had 6 fertile and all 6 are still developing. This is the first batch in my new rcom 20 and I'm very impressed to have no quitters yet. I'd normally have had 2 or 3 quit by now. :D

In the mean time, some where in the backwoods of northern Virginia at a secure compound in an undisclosed location. I have been building an army of ninja D'anvers, complete with their headbands, swords and 2 toed ninja foot wear, for the sole purpose of crushing the "hairy legged hoarde" from the south. So bring it on. I love the smell of gravy and biscuits in the morning.

Omigosh, you're making me hungry and I can't cook because I'm having a new stove delivered this afternoon! LOL!

Ducks and banny hens, I haven't since I have no quail, but I'm sure someone here has crossed those and can answer your question.

Oh man bring it, bring it I say. My horde will immediately begin covert special ops training with the best commanders and operator's available and they will be in, business taken care of and be out before your neeeenja find their pajamas much less their toe socks.
