d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

In my bator, Carly's baby hatched first a few hours ago and hasn't shutup since. A little bit ago, the only egg I had from Aimee hatched to join the cheep chorus. I have two Coch'anvers pipped, a Delawegger and a Delaware pipped. Can't see anymore pips. Today is Day 21. I can't even remember how many eggs are in there, but there is one of Shadow's still on Day 18. I have no idea what will happen with that after the higher humidity for two days too soon for it.

I think there are three or four more of Carly's and one more Coch'anver, but I'd have to count again. The Phoenix is on Day 10 with her two remaining eggs, one belonging to Carly.

Pics of some of the babies, both the 3 week olds and the broody babies, who are a week old now. I think I may have two pullets in the D'Anvers, one being the eyeliner kid, but time will tell. The Coch'anvers are a pair and the Coch'anvers with the broodies already look like a trio, even as young as they are:

So far, in the brooder, there are two D'Anvers, two Coch'anvers, a Delaware and a Delawegger. In the incubator, there are two Coch'anvers pipped, one of Carly's just pipped on the wrong end of the egg and there are two of Carly's and one of Shadow's still unpipped.

Today is Day 22, which again, seems odd for bantams to be hatching this late. What is up with my stupid Hovabators?? I have a good accurate thermometer and the eggs were in the center of the turner, no outer edges. Weird.

First pics of the new crew-Aimee's baby is so super blonde (center), it doesn't even look mille:

There are two more Shadow babies pipped, one of hers chirping but not pipped, one Carly egg pipped and today is Day 22. I'm frustrated as heck with this. I removed two of Carly's. The chicks were deceased, one even had the beak in the aircell.

Oh, I just thought of something for you, LH. The HLH (Hairy Legged Horde), sort of like Patty Hearst and the SLA, LOL! Between SDWD and HLH, we are really getting mysterious with all these monikers.

ETA: One of Shadow's is out. It looks really black, so maybe Rufus is the daddy of this one, and is exhausted. Seems large for the egg and it's just laying in the bottom of the shell. The other two are pipped and one of those is zipping. Carly's egg is zipping and cheeping.

If it wasn't for the d'Anvers I would say it just takes an extra day to grow the leg hair. HLH-- harass Lady Hawk.

BAHAHAHAHA! You'd better duck, JJ!

All babies are out. The Coch'anvers are 3 lavenders and 2 blacks, 2 D'anvers are Carly's and one is Aimee's, plus the Delaware and the Delawegger. The Delaware looks like Baby Huey in there! Pics later when they are more presentable.

The blacks have to have been sired by Rufus. Can they be mottled or will they be solid black and just carry the gene? LH and I were thinking it could be either one.

They will be split for mottled, have to go around one more time to get spots on some of them. If you pair one of them with one of the lavender ones next year, you will get some porcelain almost cochins. I think, Aubrey?
