yep you can do it that way, just keep the true looking silver quail, just be aware of the fact that even visually being silver quail, they will still have a shot at carrying rec white so they can them make rec white chicks when bred back to each other. One way to stop that, once you get back to silver quail with them, breed them to say mine or something , a line that doesnt have any rec white in them. At least they f1's wont have and whites, but some of those will still get a copy of it.

If it's for your personal use. It wont be an issue. Problem lies when you sell some eggs or something and Jo Blow new guy hatches a white and goes nuts on you...trust me it happens.

But for personal use, you'll be fine. For a couple generations, just keep taking them back to no related lines of true silvers and after 3 back crosses or so, you'll pretty much eleminate it. There'll still be an outside shot at a rec white even then though.

I run into this with my silver duckwing phoenix. I made a new line off my rec white which are over silver duckwing. Problem lies when the genes line up just right, these silver to silver matings can make a white. I just have to tell folks up front they may get one, it's all you can do. In the long run it helps your lines by adding blood to them, so from my point of view there's nothing wrong with it, just be sure any potential sells of that line are told up front and there will be no issue....

That's the only draw back of a rec white out crossing

It's a her, the males look different. I got to keep the girls this year, so I will have something to work with next year. All you need is a silver quail rooster and Molly will make you some.

Ordered egg babies from Aubrey last night, but didn't order Silver, I also requested "pullet" eggs.

Got enough roos already, gotta get rid of some of them.
Had my first fight with Woody yesterday while taking pics, either he doesn't like the camera or he didn't like all the roos surrounding me. Either way, we went 3 rounds, and I won!! But also after the 3rd round my other boys kicked in and ran him away from me, I now have feathered body guards!!

Can't wait to get the egg babies!!!

You'd be waiting A LOT LONGER...Lord seems every body wants them.... I'm gonna have to say no in a bit and get some for myself too, I need about 15-20 more to add to the breeders. I just cant keep up with them as is....

going to start working your order tomorrow, hope to have it ready Monday, thought you and JJ were in competion for the same colors, but yall good so I can get both yours looks like.

Will be glad when I get caught up and can work them as they come in, much better that way, on me at least.
Got 121 eggs today, 90 yesterday and 102 the day before, so shouldnt take long at this rate

Some pictures from the brooder today. The huge yellow chick is a pure Delaware and the one with a tail and wing markings is a Delawegger (Del x EE) so you can ignore them, if you dare. It's hard to ignore a Delaware, LOL. They're 5 days old today.

First, the progeny of Rufus with my lav Cochin-only two of nine were black, so the rest were sired by the porcelain males. One black is quite small, the other very round like the other Coch'Anvers:

I hatched three project silver quails 2 blacks and a blue.




I think the blacks could be a pair. It is hard to tell from the picture but the one on the right face is paler than the other
but they are probably both golden roos.

Yeah , your killing me with the 100 eggs aday, On a good day I get eight. But I guess you got to start somewhere. I can't even imagine what to do with 100 eggs aday ,then all those colors on top of that to keep straight. It is probably best to work up to it. I got pens to build. ha ha
