d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Those are beautiful chicks, JJ. I love the one on the far right-is that the gold quail? What will that look like as an adult?

That one is a blue quail,it is a lot lighter color blue than I expected. Real close to the blue silvers I have hatched but it has gold cheeks. Waiting to hear what Aubrey has to say about the color. These are the first two I have hatched the other one is almost black, but I think you might get that kind of variation with blue.

Oh, my, how gorgeous! You'd better not make me want another color, JJ. There's no room at the Inn, LOL.

I know what you mean I just looked and theres almost 3 dozen eggs waiting to be set and I got 2 dozen coming from Aubrey Friday. I think I am about done, except maybe for some Silver quail,Blue quail, buff columbian and a couple of others I might start on this year.

this week end should start the mass number hatches of 150 plus per week, actually just set about 300 tonight, a hova bator and a half, without trays and 4 trays in a sportsman, oh make that 2 and half hovas, forgot I had to get the last one out of the closet. One whole spare bed room is just incubators running now.
Dont know what I'm gonna do with all of them, guess I'm going to have to cut back on the project colors for a bit, setting way too many of them at the moment...

This weeks hatch, a tad shy of 300. 2 blue quail (one real light, one real dark) 3 silver quail( one male, I think) and one gold quail.

Cute chicks....looks like the one on the left wants to know who made the poop

300!!!??? A week??? Who Does THAT?? How do you get rid of that many??

Adorable chicks...they look so healthy!

haha, I dont those are just MINE, that's not counting the ones I'm hatching for customers.
I run threw thousands every summer getting these color projects in all the different breeds going.. It makes for one heck of a feed bill though.

jj,
He just looks like a normal blue quail, all mine look like that, never had a dark one, The yellowing cheeks should just be the normal quail pattern color on it. The white ,like you know, are going to be the silvers, black body white face in normal ones.

Blue does come from near black to almost lavender looking, most being in the middle and the "normal" show color blue
same with dun, it can vary from a smokey color to alsmost black, with chocolate being the norm.

He just looks like a normal blue quail to me, now which ever one is the dark blue ( I cant tell from the pic) he'd be the odd ball

Here is the blue silver quail that hatched last week.

I can tell by the look on her face, she is thinking "take me to momma Laura Lee in KY, I want to be a peeple chicky!!! Where I will be treated like a baby, not a bird!!"
See now JJ, you need to bring her to me before she sinks into deep dark depression. And like I said before, it will only take you half a day or maybe a little longer to get here.
