d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

I didn't have any quail eggs...so not quail. Hmm.
I do have Buff Columbian...so that would be picture 2.
#5 is black everywhere but on it's back...

These are really fat growing little chicks and are FAST! I moved the biggest to the floor pen today and several took short flights across the room!

I give. What eggs did you hatch?

Nana

on the colors you hatched, at this point in them, several all look a like so it's going to be hard to say til they are done growing

Buff columbian and milles are virtually identical til the get mottled on the milles. The gingers are real close too, though will be a redder than the columbians, but some milles can be really red too, so??
Then the bb reds will have either a black or salmon breast depending on sex, other color is really similar to the rest though.
The other chick does look like a quail sort of though. Think I have an odd ball in the black pen. there's been a couple like that come from them this year. Just one here and there though.
I trusted a well known black breeder for a new black male as my main breeder boys were getting old, and I wanted a new line to add to them. Think his blacks are over quail, cause I have got a few reports back of weak quail markings coming threw os a few chicks as they age.

Time will tell on them though. For now that's what it will take

here's my guesses though

#2 most likely a columbian or (yellow phase mille will be the back up color)
#3 is 2 different colors.. the back one with the solid colored head is 100% a mille. but see the head stripe and eye patch on the front chick, milles never have that, bb red, columbians do, for now, I'd say dark columbian or maybe a ginger

the other one I want to see when it's grown. I havent hatched any quite like it yet, but have seen a few that have come from them like him.

But, Aubrey, remember my Mina, who we used to call Eyeliner chick? She had the head patch and eyeliner, too. Now, she's just a pretty Mille girl. She had us all confused!
yep she did didnt she Cynthia. I had her chauled up from a buff columbian. Part of that does make up a mille so I guess in some cases it could come out in down pattern. I havent had one yet like that here though... You got some recent pics of her since we're talking about her?
I've been hit or miss on here for a while, you may have already posted some I just missed them.
We also have out first Tropical Storm headed right for me tonight so not sure how often I'll be able to check in over the next couple days.

thanks yall, think we will be ok, it's small and just 65 mph or so, main thing is once it gets on top of us, it's going to stall and sit here for 2 days. More worried about the brooders and outages than anything.

Thanks for the up date Cyn. She has turned into a pretty one. She had that grey cast to her body like a mille but other than that she did have a columbian pattern down didnt she. I remember why I was thinking she was one now!!

Will let everyone know how we fair when it's all over, we need the rain for sure here... from what I hear the rivers are so stagnate around here people are getting sick in them swimming. They havent been full in a few years now

Be careful Aubrey...the winds can be a pain for sure. I want it cleared out and gone by Friday when I head South to Florida. Unknown to my DH the worrywart, I plan on doing some surfing while I am down there....yes 48 years old and surfing HA! I do it everytime I visit my parents, my father refuses to get rid of my board and he even keeps it waxed for me.

Okay now I need to pick your brain....As you know I now have My Little Love having rescued him from the clutches of that woman in GA who was so mean to him *snicker*...well he is a daddy here for the first time....I have NO Idea which girl the mothers are but maybe you can help...Rufus is one of your Milles and he has 2 Porcelain d'Uccle girls, a Lavender Mottled d'Uccle and a Black Project d'Uccle (split to Lavender)....Here are the babies

The first one is very blonde with a mille looking patterning

dried off

Rufus' second one is much darker like a standard Mille it is just a screamer hahahaha

So Aubrey what is your verdict on these Hairy Legged Horde recruits? d'Uccle moms for sure...would they be considered splits as all the moms have the Lavender gene?

you need to be here now if you want to surf. My Fishing hole is at St Simmons Island, that's where Jim Cantory is at from TWC right now...haha

yes all your chicks are split lavender for sure. The only exceptions would be from the black, it being split only half it's chicks would be split, but they would be black also
You got them from the porcelains because those are milles for sure, and will be split to lavender
