d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Adding pictures of the really dark chick in the almost-four-week-old group. She is Penny's, sired by Aubrey, of course, but so much darker than any of Aimee's four chicks. I think this is a pullet. This is the one whose egg DH dropped and crackled so he incubated it from Day 13 to hatch on a heating pad. Here is Cleo. Pullet?

Very much like our former eyeliner chick, Mina, isn't she? I think it's interesting that a chick that we know for certain is split for porcelain is so very dark in color.

Thanks to DH for catching and holding our little monster. This group is very skittish right now.

If my little Ace, the mille, who is 16 weeks now, is a split, and he could be, just don't know for sure, and I keep one a couple of these girls, too, who are most definitely split, I'd get porcelains from that mating, right?

I'm thinking about keeping Ace because, at the moment, he's still very sweet tempered. I wonder if Angus was his sire because of that, though at just 16 weeks old, he still has time to become more like Aubrey is, I guess. He did peck my shoes once, but only that one time. He loves a good chest rub.

I sure miss my Angus. He was so un-D'Anver-like in his temperament.

Well, of course, he's happy! Look at all the pretty girls you gave him!

That crele pullet has quite a tail on her!

You know, I thought I'd love the porcelain color and I sure do. I sort of liked the mille fleur and got them because of the compatibility factor with porcelain, but I like them more now than I used to like them.

25% porcelain, 75% millie.

Cyn...I think Cleo is a girl too. Such a cutie. I now have 5 hairy legged horde recruits hatched in my basement...mama is still holding tight on the last egg so maybe six babies soon. Will get their photographs tomorrow. I also 5 new recruits in the incubator cooking right along.

JJ it is too hot for leggings but you to try to shave one of them...no thanks. hahahahahaha
