d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

here some pics for you all they arent very good they still getting settled ill get better pics when they go outside in the run

see Cole, you did get a brown red, it just ended up being a male. Looks like his breast is off colored, but he's a brown red none the less. Breed him to that bb red pullet and you will get more of both, as he is half bb red already. Birchen is dominate over duckwing, IF the birchen is pure. He's split for duckwing, so this will give you more of both colors with just 1 mating

Hope I am right and that would be real cool.
JJ there will be a clear difference in them. The lavender and blue to way off shade wise, lavender ones of course will be the pale sky blue and the andalusian blue will be dark blue. Then the lavender effect of red will make it look like the cream of a porcelain on the quail colored ones
the blue quail of course look like a plain ol blue quail, little washed out on the red but not much.
for silver versions, the lavender will be very pale on the black areas, where on blues it would be much darker

not getting upset or defensive but if I am gonna get yelled at because I made a mistake then I don't need to be in this forum...
think you are getting overly defensive wheather you realize it or not. The members on this thread are very firendly and joke around all the time. NO ONE is going to yell at you.
The original post that started all this was just trying to clarify the breed verses color thing which gets mixed up all the time.
These are often times called Belgian Quail. Which they were just trying to say isnt correct.
They are Belgian Antwerp d'Anvers, that being the breed, all other stuff like quail is just the color name. Here in the USA, the breed name has just been shortened to d'Anver.

Same with d'uccles, they often just get called mille fleurs which is incorrect, that's a color name....

either way you have some nice quail d'anvers!

Dont get so worked up, come here for fun, and a sence of humor, we're all friend on this thread. no one's trying to attack anyone here.

Sunkss, you misunderstood Cetawin-she certainly wasn't yelling at you. We don't do that here on this thread. All we do is joke around and pass on a little education between pictures and good-natured ribbing.

I thought the feather shaft on lavs is white or light and this statement on another thread I found verified that:

Quote: I looked and couldn't find one good blue feather here to check it against the lavs I found, but that is on a solid blue or solid lavender bird, of course.

Aubrey, do you think this is a pullet, too, in this post? Not doubting JJ, just can't believe my luck this go-round if it is! I was thinking, other than the pink in the comb, that everything else said female, too.

If there is 2 shots of lavander and blue in the same bird what will it do to the color?

I hope you all don't mind me asking a question. I bought two d'anver pullets today. I think they are 8 weeks old (I have asked seller about date of hatch) they both have a touch of red. Now for the question, how early do d'anver pullets start getting red in their comb area? It's made me slightly nervous that I may have a cockerel or two. I have looked at speckledhens photos of her 7 1/2? week olds (the red areas and the one with the bump) and will compare with mine tomorrow.

Are their combs raised at all? If not, they're probably pullets. Post pictures for us. We love pictures. I'll see if I can find pictures of my others that age who are grown now.
