d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Aubrey! I have F1 Columbian, Silver Quail, Porcelain & Black/Blue Roosters. If I put eash one of them with the white hen, what color would the chick be? Thanks

But they check them for leg fungus too! I hear there is an epidemic down that way.:lau

Of course but that is an easy test all mine have it. Hehehe. I do have the pure d'anvers Bob, Bud, Blondie and Sarah but no breeding till Spring. They currently all live with the cochanver pairs except Bud who defected and moved in with a Silkie and her three babies. He kept getting in that pen so I left him in there and they will not be breeding. Hahahaha

Earlier this fall I hatched 23 millies. Had a guy get in touch with me because he was looking for a couple of millie roosters. I told him I was sure I had some young ones that I could ship early next year. Today I went out and looked close at them, there are three cockerels in the bunch. Must have learned to hatch pullets from Cynthia.

your experienced eyes are far better than mine on the color varieties...he must be ginger...and you think Miss Piggy is a Ginger with the marking on her feathers....if so that makes me a happy chicken momma.
from that pic, she sure looks like it, with the stippling on her back and all. could just be the pic, but they both look like it in those pictures

white in d'anver is recessive unless you get some I or a couple other breeders have breed dominate white into.
so, pretty much with few exceptions, any time you breed a bird to a recessive white, if it isnt recessive white too, you get blacks.
These blacks will be split for recessive white and what ever the other parent was.
in the porcelains case, whew, it'll be split for recessive white, lavender, and mottleing, as well as carry columbian

on the black and blues, they'll just be black split for white
