Land 'O Lakes is a huge conglomerate, mostly all kinds of foods.

Yes. That is the parent company for Purina the livestock feed company. The dog and cat food is a different Purina.

Food arrived! Of course, I had to run out and immediately offer them some. They were all napping, but waddled over to see what new treats were coming from the bag. I wish I had gotten a photo of them all side-eying the kibble suspiciously My pied Muscovy was the first to give it a try. She declared it to be tasty. Daphne then had to try it as she’s a pig and couldn’t watch her sister eat all of something. Her response was “meh”. My white Muscovy was distracted by a bug. We‘ll see how they react when it’s all that they get for dinner! Daphne seems less sore today, and more like herself, although her voice is still hoarse and higher pitched than it was prior to becoming so ill. I wonder if she quacked all day at the Vets

Glad to hear she's feeling a little better, and also that you got your new food. What a diff just in the lack of smell from the mazuri, even after it gets wet. The smell was the biggest thing for me when I was giving just reg Purina duckling feed, it had a horrible smell, especially after it got wet and mushy, and instantly went away after changing feeds, i was sold from that point on!!!

Little off-topic but I constantly see folks saying its tough to find/get Mazuri feed - wondering if it's something you could ask your local feed/farm store to stock (their procuring process and costs are a lot different than individual consumer cost and shipping). Once in a while you can get a grocer or liquor store to stock stuff they don't normally carry if you just get ahold of the manager and explain there's something you want/need and you intend to buy it if they go ahead and stock it for you. Duck food is a constant need so even if you're the only one who ever buys it, however much they choose to stock isnt at risk of going to waste (unless they buy way too much and store it poorly and it rots but they should know better) The item price might go up a little than online but it evens out when you're not paying and waiting on shipping...

I had to goto 3 diff feed stores before I could get someone to order it for me, and all three stores carry purina products, I guess it depends on the how big the store is,, the area you live and how much they sell, because the first stores told me they could get it, but the next time I asked they said no, then the second store told me it was too expensive and wasn't worth it for them to get, they are both pretty small scale feed stores, and the third is a larger one about 45mins away, but still cheaper than ordering online!!

Might be a different division,
but doubt it's different company(they wouldn't be allowed to use the same name).
It can be really hard to dig down(or rather, up) to find the connections under those big umbrellas.

Daphne update! Shes still hanging in there. Sometimes, she looks almost back to normal, although her voice has been different (higher pitched and quieter) ever since she got home from the Vet. Other times, she worries me as she becomes lethargic and starts straining. I’m just going to keep going with supportive care and will cross my fingers. I will also call her Vet with an update tomorrow and see if they change their minds re: antibiotics. Sometimes, I wonder if she has a tumor in her reproductive tract. I don’t know. Time will tell! Thank you all as always. I will check with my favorite feed store to see if they will order the Mazuri food. If not, I don’t mind going through Chewy as I can always find things I need to push the price into free-shipping territory.

Thank you for your reply! I would love to hear details when you have time I already stay away from artificial lighting, and the decreasing day length will stop Daphne’s laying naturally in 5-6 weeks or so if she can make it that far. I’m also switching to a new diet. I hesitate to lock her away in the dark, although if that would provide temporary relief, I would. How has Thimbleberry been doing with the changes, and how long did it take her to stop laying?

I just remembered one more thing my vet told me that may help you. Apparently petting a bird down her back or stroking her on the top or under her tail can stimulate reproductive activity also.

Thimbleberry never really enjoyed me petting her that way, so I didn't have to change anything. But just in case Daphne does I thought I would tell you!

No a whole current company. Purina sold its livestock feed division to Land O Lakes to focus on pet food. Its confusing as they still use the Purina name and the checker board logo but the two companies are no longer related.
