Dark Brahma chick coloring

I read a really old post (2011) on dark brahma chicks, and most said that male and female Dark brahma chicks look identical. I ordered 20 straight run and 10 female, just to make sure I had more females, and I have started noticing that some, about a third, have darker faces. Is it still so that they are identical, or could the difference be gender related. The other post was talking about day olds though, and mine are over a week old now. The first picture is a darker faced chick, and the second is a lighter faced chick.

Chick color can vary. I don't think it has anything to do with sex of the chick.
