Dark brahma chick

I am trying to figure out if my 4-5 weeks old chick is a cockerel or pullet.

Is it the colors of the feathers that makes you think that?

Males have much darker chests than the girls, and the young cockerels show a lot of white and black rather than the gray lacing of the girls. I would also guess that yours is a cockerel. Here’s a link to another thread with pictures of female dark brahma chicks for comparison:

Yes. He is 100% a cockerel due to the dark breast feathers and lack of pencilling.

Aww gotta admit I wished it was a pullet. Their feathers are just so much prettier than males.
I worry he'll get so big and dominant over my three hens.
