Hi Randy!!!
I've spent the last 3 days reading every single post-- I don't claim to remember every post, but there were plenty of goodies to put in my marans file! SO much to learn!
I only recently learned there were wheaten marans-- how to there eggs compare to cuckoos and BC?
I've been hatching does bloom eggs with no trouble and it's a temporary thing 1 or 2 hens that lay a blume égg stop and retuen to normal .Hi Don,
I presume you are culling hens which lay eggs with a bloom or is that something the hens out grow as the mature?
Thanks,
Joe
Sorry you only go boys--gives you more to select from for breeding, right? I've only seen a few pics of the plum colored eggs, and they really look like rosa plums with the bloom. Very pretty!I have a golden cuckoo marans that lays what you might consider a bloom egg. At her peak, they are a lovely dark plum. Now they are more of a rose color. She's one of those rebellious hens that lays wherever she feels like, but I like the eggs and her type.
The only problem- all of her chicks have been blue golden cuckoo BOYS.
Nice to see this thread up again!
