I would have thought buff orpington from the first pic but now that they have feathers I am going to say white rocks. They dont seem big enough to be cornish cross. White rocks make very pretty adult chickens and lay very large brown eggs and lay very well.

They look like white rocks to me. Hens can be large and chunky also so it may take awhile to sex them....
If you want sure thing pullets try the sex links. can't mistake hens from roos....

This is the reason that I have not bought chicks from Tractor Supply. Each time I have gone in to get feed or wood chips they have little white or cream colored chicks in. Each time I ask someone what kind of chicks they are I get the same answer. Rhode Island Reds. Now I have 12 RIR that were the packing peanuts from my order. The chicks they have look nothing like them. I wish they could educate their staff on the chicks they get in or post pics of the breeds they carry so people can compare the pics to the chicks they have left in stock.

Well, I'll never, ever buy chicks from TSC, but those look like white Rocks to me.

This is my first year with chickens... Live and learn I guess.

I asked the girl if they were Buff Orpingtons, and she seemed positive in her answer that they were.
But as they are growing, I really don't think they are.

My RIRs I got from a woman in Ohio who is also on BYC.

I guess I won't rely on TSC anymore either.

I wait until they are more grown when I go to TSC you can guess yourself what they may be and they are less expensive and the hard part is done.

If I want the same ones I call the local hatchery that is usually for my layers.

I probably go to the same TSC as amarook - they sell out of chicks very fast over there. I was just in today and there isn't one chick of any bird or breed in the place. I know they've had at least 2 shipments already. This is the second time I've gone there in a month's time and found they'd sold out of chicks. Their first shipment was April 3!

I didn't even bother to ask when the next shipment was coming.(I'm reasonably sure there will be another - the empty bins and the sales signs and boxes are all still out taking up a lot of space on the floor)

I did ask what hatchery this TSC uses, and it is Ideal. In my own Ideal order in March, we got a chick that looks a lot like your mystery chicks, amarook. It started out as a little yellow chick with a bit of brown coloring on its head. Now it is pure white, bigger than most of the other chicks, but has very little comb growth compared to the others.

It should have been a brown sexlink, and could be a roo. The brown sexlink pullet we have is splotchy brown and white and has a little comb already. I just noticed (in taking the picture below) that her legs were green. In the red light, I hadn't seen that before. Easter Egger? We are supposed to have two of those and two brown sexlinks.

And the other that I thought was an EE, has yellow legs.
