Darn it, one of my "hens" is... crowing!! Now what?

My Cornish X has been practicing her crowing for a week or two now, it's getting louder!

It's kinda cute at the moment b/c it doesn't sound like a rooster crow, it's more like her own style I think and not as loud. Of course in a few weeks I may not think this is so cute...

You should post a pic!

Hi, everyone,

Thanks for all your responses! I don't mind the crowing; our dogs wake us up at 5 am, year round! My concern about having a roo is two fold: I need to be able to go in the coop to clean, feed, water, etc. without being attacked, and second, if he's too rough with the hens and hurts them.

I don't hold much hope that he's a crowing hen, because about two weeks ago, he did grab one of the girsl by the back of the neck. She squawked and tried to get away, but she didn't panic, and he wasn't being mean. It reminded me forcibly of the behavior of a 6 month old puppy who's just starting to figure out that girls are interesting. That was about the time he started to crow.

Anyway, he's a lovely bird, and I'd like to keep him (though I was disappointed, because he would have laid white eggs to contrast with the brown that the rest will lay).

I tried to post a picture, but when I tried to upload to the BYC site, it kept telling me that it was the wrong kind of file - but my pictures are all JPEG. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I could go to Photobucket, but I have dialup and it takes a minimum of 25 minutes to upload one photo!!!

Suggestions? I'd love to post a photo for y'all to see, and get your opinions on this bird.

Thanks!
