Darn My Fast Metabolism

Deb I remember the day I passed my bar exam...I went to Palm Beach to the Armani store with the intent on blowing a couple grand on two awesome tailored suits for court appearance and so forth. At that time, I was a perfect size 0 skirt and a much larger jacket hahaha I walked in and spoke to the clerk who greeted me, told her what I wanted and she said "Have you tried the children's department at Macy's, they would have more of what you need" and she said it with a chuckle and a smile in her voice. I was so ticked off! I said "Look wench, take my meassurements and do your dammmd job"...she laughed. I walked out, went back to my office and called Armani in New York and let them have it.

1 week later, I received two of the beautiful one of kind, perfectly tailored suits with a note of apology and a Zero balance invoice.

I cannot tell you how many times I have been told to go to the children's department or the teens. Well, I have had children and I have hips sista.

It is infuriating either way really....small or large shopping can be a nightmare as well as "personal opinion" based on the exterior of you. I can say that I happily walk into the teen area now and when the ocassional girl giggles I smile and say "When you are a mother and grandmother, I wonder if you will fit into anythign in this department then?"

Cheyenne loves it because she can steal my clothes at age 13. So, you live with what you got or set out to change it....which is why I am in the gym everynight. I will be a big girl one day.

Metabolism is a cover word for thyroid and adrenal health.
Inability to lose weight, means your adrenals are not functioning, causing your thyroid to be sluggish.
I am slowly winning the battle, since learning how to heal and eat real foods.

Sorry that is not true. They are different but many use metabolism as an excuse for deficiences on both the thyroid and adrenals. I have mine checked twice per year and have since I was a teen....no issue with either. Some people are blessed and cursed with a high metabolism...some are genetic as well.

Inability to lose weight can be caused by a number of things...for example.... a reason I witnessed recently

A woman who is a good 220 - 250lbs overweight, goes to Curves 6 nights a week and hits the girly machines for an hour each night. Then she leaves and marches her big backside into the convenience store, grabs a yoohoo and a box of dingdongs (shoving one in her face) and tells the clerk how tired she is of working out so hard and never losing an ounce! I wanted so bad to shove those dingdongs in the nether regions where the woman's brains were when I heard that. I could not help myself and said "Well maybe if you would stop shoving a box of dingdongs in your face with the yoohoo chaser after every workout YOU WOULD LOSE some weight." So add Stupidity and a lack of desire to the reasons some never lose weight.

There are also diabetics who cannot lose weight, there are individuals with back injuries that cannot exercise well enough to lose weight. Please do not lump every situation into one category because life is not that way.

I am so glad you are winning your battle...keep at it, stay focused and stay consistent and you can accomplish anything!

I don't get that either...
I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and work my butt off (literally

) A few times a week I see the same lady there. She is moderately overweight and at first I think "you go girl! good for you for getting in here and working it!" She is generally sitting on a bench in the locker room reading a magazine. 30 minutes later she is in the gym and sitting on a thigh machine, reading the magazine. She sits on various machines for about 30 minutes...never really lifting, maybe 2 or 3 reps with no weight and reads. I mean, she just sits there! Then she goes home. I guess maybe she is related to the same woman with the yoohoo and dingdongs. I'm sure she must brag that she goes to the gym and just can't seem to lose this weight....must be a gladular issue.

simple strategy to gain weight - consume more calories than your body burns. See a doctor to check for an endocrine problem. If you just eat then the weight you will gain will most likely be fat. You need to add muscle. It sounds counter-intuitive but resistance work and a balanced, healthy diet will work wonders. At 18 though lots of people go through that coltish stage - all legs and arms, knees and elbows.

Same here! I guess being a Vegetarian has something to do with it, maybe. The food I eat is easier to digest I think, unlike meat and stuff. I lose like 2-5lbs over night! Even if I do eat before bed, I will be really hungry in the morning.

I also run track and cross country and everything, so that helps a lot with it too.
Although right now I am a little under weight, I'm not too under weight and I'm happy with it right now. I'm happy that I can eat so much and it barely makes a difference.

Also, another good way to gain weight is to exercise and gain weight with muscle, not be eating. Eat healthy and exercise and it really helps.

I turned 39 Tuesday and still can't break 120#. Wait, I did when I was prego.

But now still the same. Don't feel bad, designers make clothes to fit us sticks. Now if we could just afford them.

One thing to note that Catstar68 and I hit on...muscle. Add muscle. Many reasons....muscle is denser than fat which means it takes up less space. So by adding muscle, you shrink the size of your body but not necessarily the scale. Second reason...muscle burns fat. Drink water when you are exercising and lifting because water is needed in the muscles so they can function and grow, plus it helps them burn the fat stores.

Muscles are sexy ladies...not Arnold size but nice strong lean muscle. woot!
