Darn those baby chicks. we did it again

I had to report that I went in a feed store this afternoon and they had chicks and ducks. I was able to leave with just more feeders, waterers and cow ears for the poodles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear you, I secretly wish you find some more chickies.
The more the merrier...right? Or maybe that doesn't count when it comes to backyard critters.
Either way, I want more, and I want 1 more dog as well. My hubby seems to be on a different page though...the page that talks about a few hens and maybe no rooster...boring...!
Give us a few weeks or so and I know he will melt...

Our local Away won't have chicks until the end of the month....they said their supplier (Mt. Healthy) didn't have enough to send so end of April will be the time for chicks. Our TSC is supposed to have them now. I have to go up to get some Vet Rx and I'm worried. My babes are just over a week old now and I know they are going to have EEs!

My 28 yo DD who doesn't read this board and doesn't understand how widespread this chick collecting affliction is, thinks I am out of control because I have 7 chicks and am planning to get 10 more. She thinks that there should be a point where you have to admit that you can't take care of any more. I tried to explain that we all just build another or bigger coop!
I secretly know that SHE is the crazy one, not me.
But she does have a valid question.
How many is too many chickens??

I konw what you all mean 2 1/2 weeks ago purchased 6 chicks, 1 1/2 week ago added 2 more. Today hubby and i were both off work and i had to go pick up some pine chips, YAY trip to TS, and they got in more new chicks
MISTAKE 1....took hubby with to TS.....he said...i don't care if they have cute feathers on their legs and they are silkies...we live in the city.

....then he took a look and said well are they pulletts, we cant have any rooster...i said they are straight run so i dont know....

MISTAKE 2...purchased house in town like an idot, so i am already pusing out local ordinace with the placement of my coop.....so no more new chicks for me this season.

I feel for you, it is next impossible to see those cut fluffy babies and knowingly walk away.
We are lucky, we live in Houston but our little neighborhood of 20 houses have no deed restrictions and we do not have a neighborhood association...yeah. In other words we are cool.
I never really understood why my husband didn't want to live in a newer, fancier subdivision, but now i get it. With all those rules and regulations you could not have such a cool backyard flock as we all do. I love where we live and all of our critters, two legged and fourlegged.
