Hi guys! I'm totally new here, and new to hatching. Have a feeling this wont be my first and last attempt either!
I thought I'd share my pics with you. We've been really lucky, we acquired 3 silkie hens at POL (took forever to find some) and then discovered their eggs were fertile from hanging with the boys where we got them from! With time not on our side (we don't have roosters) we quickly bought an incubator and here we are. Day 12 and I'm a nervous wreck, fretting over chicks that weren't even meant to be!
I began stagger hatching in one incy (kept finding more fertile eggs and got carried away) but panicked so bought a second incubator for the second batch. Then discovered 3/4 of the later eggs were clear LOL so a £70 expense for one egg!
So 4 eggs in batch 1, due 7th June and one lone ranger due 11th.
Here are my pics so far- it's been an amazing experience.
Day 3
Day 4
Day 6
Day 10
Day 11
These pics are the eggs which are the strongest, lovely thick blood vessels. However one of my eggs looks darker on the inside. She's still moving but a bit less dramatic than the others in terms of movement. Ill post a pic tomorrow, been trying to avoid handling that egg as much as poss.
It's seemed darker than the others for a couple of days now, like a bigger mass. If it was bacterial infection wouldn't she have given up by now? There is still definitely movement.
Right sorry for the rant, but the advice on here has been amazing. I'm beginning to bore people as I'm becoming crazy chick lady so I need to pour my worries somewhere where people understand but also can answer my questions!!
Thanks in advance,
Emma xxx
