DAY 14. How are my air sacks?

I put it them right on the screen that the eggs sit on. That way I can just quickly pull one out and wet it when I need more humidity and slide it back in.  At lockdown I do fill all my wells going to go fill all mine up. and add a small cup under the screen. So your screen is lifted the height of your cup? I add the wet sponges above the screen for the extra humidity and so I can keep it controlled better w/o having to take the top of the bator off and mess with adding to the wells.

I really have no idea what to tell you! I was told if the air cell is normal treat them as normal eggs. If the air cell is saddle but fixed, not rolling to place them on their side with the lowest point of the air cell facing up. I am very curious to know how you hatch goes, as I have 9 shipped eggs due to hatch next Thursday!

My cup (more like a little shallow bowl) is snugged in the corner under the screen the screen bumps up slightly in that corner, but not enough to effect anything.

I keep hearing about paper towels? Should I add a layer under the screen?
You can wet paper towels. I'm going to ask a question and I am sorry if I or anyone else has already asked it, have you ever checked you hygrometer? If you fill your wells and have a couple sponges in the bator it should give you a decent humidity unless you are in a real dry area.

Many people who have shipped eggs with wonky air cells hatch out in cartons. Of course many people hatch in cartons regardless of wether they are shipped or local, they just prefer cartons.

Sorry, should have mentioned that. Yes, I calibrated my hydrometer before I set the eggs and again last night. It's dead on.

I filled the wells about half way and laid paper towels on top then put the screen down. I added a 2nd bowl with a sponge and the windows started fogging up (was 78% and rising). I cracked the lid for a few mins until the windows started to clear. But the RH kept trying to go above 80%. I took the second cup out and right now it's at 71%.
I'll keep playing with it to keep ot above 70 and below 75%.
This is going to be a long 3 days...lol

LOL. 70 is good. A lot of people hatch at 60-65%. I go for higher, cause I know I'm going to be opening the bator...lol

Good luck. What breed do you have coming?
Some of my air sacks are picture perfect which surprised me because they are shipped, but there are the handful that are iffy. I read that keeping shipped eggs in the cartons helps so I'm trying that. It does worry about the ones might pip on the bottom but I guess its a yet another risk to take.

If you have extra humidity you can always check periodically....lol

Seriously though, that's one of the reasons I woudl be uncomfortable hatching in cartons. Malepositioned pippers would be harder to see.

I've already given these GIRLS a talk. No pipping on the bottom. Turn the head and do your thing ;p
