here's a question for ya... WWAD?![]()
I hatch flat, but I don't do shipped eggs, so I would say flat except for wonky air cells and those I probably would leave in cartons...

Oh...the torture!! I know exactly what you mean. At this point, what you would be hoping to see are some internal pips. A triangular (the beak) shadow in the air cell of the egg. The majority of the egg should be dark. If you do candle, (I am not going to waste my breath in a lecture of why you shouldn't, sometimes, a quick look can set your mind to rest. Just note: there is no reason to freak out until after day 21 has come and gone w/no signs.) don't freak out if the air cell looks all big and weird because before hatch they do draw down some quite significantly. You probably won't see a hole lot of movment cause it's dark and they are, well...cramped up in there. If there are internal pips, you should see the beak move when you light it up.Please tell me not to freak out yet? Its day 20 and not one single pip that i can see.
Im starting to second guess every.single .thing. Was my temps right? Maybe I should have this and that.....
I want to take one more peek at the eggs to make sure they're still alive...just reassure myself. I was going to steam my bathroom to open the bator. What will I be looking for if I candle at this stage? Full black blobs...hopefully moving around, right? Anything else?
lmao. I didn't say it wasn't normal to freak out at this point, just that there's no reason to yet...lol After you have your first successful hatch, you'll be wanting to do it again. After my first failed hatch I was done. I wasn't planning on another. I'm glad I did another, but not sure if it was a good thing, cause now I am addicted..lolCome on? Really? No freaking out with no pips from any of the 28 eggs on day 20?
Pfffft
I didn't see any internal pips but I wasnt expecting that either since it's dead silent. No peeps. I didnt pay much attention to the size of the air sacks. ...just that they were slightly larger. A saw a little bit of movement in some. The others I was satisfied to see black blobs with "some" veining.
One welsummer I think is a quitter, but I left her in at this stage of the game. The "blob" just looked different. Couldn't tell you what it was, but something was off. Of course those dark welsummer eggs have been a challenge from the get go.
I feel slightly better. And please don't hate me....I'm ready for this to be over. Don't think I do this again. Too stressful. My anxiety is at an all time max. I might change my tune when it's all said and done (said the same thing after my first was born...and after the 4th one...bwhaha but I meant it that time) but right now I'm tired of hearing the humming of the bator. I swear i can hear it from 3 rooms away. I fall sleep to the sound...in my head.
Lol. .seriously...I'm over it.

After my first failed hatch I was done. I wasn't planning on another. I'm glad I did another, but not sure if it was a good thing, cause now I am addicted..lol yeah, thats what I'm silently afraid of....if none of these serama hatch, I might try again. I know they have a fatal gene but I'm holding out a little bit of hope with the 4 eggs that went into lock down. And those naked necks have caught my eye...hmmmm
After my son was born, I said never again-and I meant it!!! lol
Not to my knowledge. Still no peeping or pipping??Odd question, but do the eggs get bigger during incubation? In circumference? I sweara few felt "bigger" when I candled earlier.
@AmyLynn2374 and can you post that youtube link for chirping chicks...TIA
Play it a couple times here and there now and it might get their butts moving. They can hear it in there!Nothing. Nada
I possibly saw one or 2 wobble but that could be me wishful thinking. Wanted to bookmark the video if and when the time comes.
If one hatches, I'll be happy![]()
