day 14...questions before lock down in a couple days!!!

HEY. ok. it a few days, it'll be lockdown, and I wanna make sure i have all my facts and things ready before then so nothing goes wrong.

1. i have my eggs in a turner, should i stand them up in a carton to hatch during lock down? OR lay them over??? does it matter??

2. humidity on day 18...I've heard some say raise it high, and some say lower it.....what should I do????????

3. if i stand the eggs up in a carton, do i need to place them a certain way? like with the air pocket up???


ANY tips that might make this hatch sucessfull would be GREAT!!!!!

with a 100% disaster last time, I'm trying to make sure I do everything correct and the best I can this time! I want fuzzies!!!

Hi nicoletm24!

1. & 3. You can hatch in a modified egg carton (hole cut in the bottom of each cup, lid removed) with the air cell up, or you can simply take them out of the turner. If you can, remove the turner.

2. Humidity needs to be around 60% - 65% according to all that I have read. Can be difficult to maintain.

I agree with Cattitude! The only difference is that I use egg flats and I don't cut out the bottoms. I also placed one batch on it's side and one batch with the big end up...great success with both batches...it's personal preference. Good luck with your hatch!!

so, they aren't going to position themselves in the upright position after all this time in the turner??? thats what i figured. and i thought that maybe putting them on their side would make it hard for them to get out. ????

ok, so cut the top off the carton (was planning that) and cut a hole in the bottom? w/ air cell up!?

i'm so nervous i'm gonna do something wrong

1.) Lay them on their sides in the bottom of the incubator. They may have a hard time hatching in the egg carton.
