I can keep them in there for 24 hrs without food or water right? was hoping to take out whatevers hatched by the time the oldest is a day old

I'm up to 19 chicks!!!! 15 are in the brooder and 4 are drying off in the bator, I had 3 pips when I opened the bator to take em out, they haven't really moved since from the last couple of eggs I see that it takes awhile to get out, but is it possible to kill the chicks in the egg when you open up the incubator?

Not usually, just make sure that when you do open the bator there is plenty of water in it. And it would be a good idea to keep some warm, wet sponges nearby to put in there, as warm water evaporates faster. They should be fine

Congrats on the babies!!

You did fine getting the others out. The others will make it out or not, opening the bator will not make difference.
Good news with the ones you have so far!!!

Curled toes is probably one of them that was pipped when you opened the bator.

There are several different ways to fix curled toes.
#1 is to make a boot and tape it to the foot (not very easy on a tiny quail chick!)

#2 is to gently stretch the toes out a few times a day (I haven't done this personally, but monarc23 and a few others have said this works well)

or

#3 is to leave that one in the bator (or in something with a 1/4" wire bottom) for a few days with food and water. The wire will help the toes to straighten out.
