Day 16--Candling & Cracked an Egg!!!

I stopped panicking long enough to look at another thread and used wax from a tea candle to seal the cracks as best as I could. Here is a picture of it pre-repair. The line on the left is a pencil marking so I could check to see if the egg turner was working. The rest is cracking.

I have had a hen for three years now who hatched from an egg that I had to reseal with crayon wax. She didn’t need any help, either, and now she’s hatched eggs of her own. I wouldn’t worry too much about your cracked egg. It definitely has a good chance of survival and it looks like you sealed it nicely. Good luck!

Yesterday when I updated, it was Day 21. Two siblings had hatched, and the waxed egg was pipping slightly on the narrow end. This morning, nothing has changed. Fingers crossed for more pips/hatches!

And when they're fluffed up and cute, there will be pictures! :D

Pipping on the narrow end is the wrong end so it might struggle to open the egg. As long as it can breathe ok give it time but you might have to peel a bit of shell away if it struggles too long
