Day 18 and i can't get the humidity to rise in my incubator!

Oh God! I'm now stuck back at work for another 3 hours! Will the eggs be ok? I'm also worrying about opening the incubator again as i'm meant to be on lockdown!

Please relax. As long as you didn't leave the eggs standing in water things should be okay. When you get home, things will have stabilized. If there are no external pips, you may want to pull a little water out, but otherwise don't meddle too much.

I am a little concerned if you had the humidity elevated the entire incubation period, though.

Ok thanks. What is the temperature/humidity you all use? I followed the booklets advice of 45-55 but it never went over 51 and was only at 51 for 1 day and then dropped back to the high 40's.

I keep mine in the low 30s, no lower than 25 or higher than 40, but I let it vary through the range. Some days dry, some days a little water in the pan, but I've never had good results with a relative humidity during incubation over 45%.

Every incubator is different, but I've used several types with similar results.

Hatch time humidity is critical.
