day 18 for suedes babies and the ameraucanas!

so like the chicken raising fool i am i checked the eggs at 0330hrs and again now at 0600...two eggs have pipped but no birds yet...darn it i have to go to work so I will have to leave them to their own devices when i would like to dig em out of the eggs! They are both ameraucanas who have pipped.

another one has pipped...another ameraucana...i gave the ones who had progressed very little over night a little help...chipped off a zip line around the egg and made a slit in the tough outer membrane for them..the rest is up to them.

i hatched out 2 who had their membranes stuck to them...they were the ones who were not progressing overnight...one blue one black and both look good so far...there are 3more ameraucanas pipped but now am at work so will update later today.

All good...no sign of any action from the blue orps though.

At least something is happening. I thought the cooldown would have slowed it down some, but I wonder if it weakened them any. At least you'll get some babies out of what could have been a bad situation and I'm glad for that, Aran. Can't wait to hear later on!

yep the wife says all is going well with the two hatched littlies at home...the other 3 that have pipped have not done much of anything yet...i will probably give them a hand when i get done at work.

humidity is as high as i can get it...the window is all fogged up, the base of the cooler is covered in water to inc the surface area available for evaporation. Maybe I can get the humidity higher in the forced air incubator...i will try that.
