Day 18.....Lockdown

im not sure. I have been at school all day. It wasn't there this morning and it WAS there at about 3;30. What does a pip look like? a zip? whats the difference? It is more that a crack. It has pipped towards the bottom. Should I rotate it around??should I help it?

here is a pip (external):

after the pip, the chick takes a rest and the rest can last 12-24 hours. when they are ready, they will begin zipping.


zipping can take 10 minutes or a few hours!

As long as it's at the fat end of the egg I would leave it alone. Can you post a pic??

It was at the wrong end. I opened it up. Chick dead fully formed just pipped at the wrong end.

was the egg incubated with the large end up? usually keeping it upright will put the chick in the proper position
