Day 18 with project Lav Orpingtons.... **A PIP!!!*

I can't wait to see your lavs. Mine are so cute. The suspense of their hatch nearly killed me! LOL

Cara...how many chicks do you have now? I have 7 lav and 2 splits in the brooder and more eggs pipping/zipping! I'm loving the high % of lavs...

Hopefully my split quad will produce a high % of lavs, too.

Watching them hatch is like opening a present, scanning the chick over to see if it's lavender. lol It's really touch to tell when they're wet as they have a silvery glow. But when you get one of each, it is much clearer.

Dutchchic, you must resist peaking for a good hatch.

I have 2 Lil Bear pips and nothing on Lester's eggs so far. They aren't due to start until tonight so keeping my fingers crossed that they are on schedule as usual.

This is so exciting - all of us hatching these peeps at the same time.

I wish I could..maybe we'll have Lester eggs soon.

For those following the project, Big Bear, Lil Bear and Lucas pens have all been broken down and the roosters culled. We're down to Lester's pen only until all the lavender peeps grow up. So I believe these are the final eggs/hatches from that part of the project.

Dutchchic - congrats on the great # of lavs. That is so cool!
