I'm trying the same thing. When I go downstairs all I check is temp and humidity, I'm trying not to even look at the eggs.

Day 20, and the australorp has made some progress, and theres another australorp with a new pip too.

This is fun that we all have them due on the same day.

I feel the flu coming on, I might have to stay home sick tomorrow.....

My broody silkie hens are right next to me here in the 'puter room....I have the volume off so that I might hear an egg pipping or the sound of a muffled peep inside.......................

I must go out to the feed store soon and get the chick starter.

...every once in a while, the girls will talk quietly in a questioning manner, as if communicating with the eggs.

THE WAITING IS AWFUL !! lol

I came home for lunch today, day 20, and I had 2 of the most darling little chicks looking back at me. Perfectly healthy...I really cant believe I did it. One australorp and one auracana. Tho they both look identical. I don't know which is which. Another couple have pips on them. How long should I leave these 2 little sweeties in there before putting them in the brooder? I know Im not supposed to open the incubator until everyone is done hatching, but these 2 came a bit early it seems.

halo, they can stay in there safely for 2 days if necessary. I would wait for the others and don't disturb the incubator. Congrats on the babies!

Gosh, Jody, I got too anxious and took them out and set them up in their own house before I got to your post. I hope I didnt hurt the rest of them. I have their brooder next to my incubator, and their little peeps are just the sweetest thing. Here they are....can you tell which is the australorp and which is the araucana?

Looks like the one on the left is the aussie and the one on the right in the pic (standing) is the araucana. Remember, Aussie's have straight combs and araucana have pea combs, so you'll be able to tell.
