Day 20, and I am worried!

We are in the same position. My eggs are on day 20, 21 tonite at 10pm. I have had one pip and hatch. Nothing on the others yet. They all candled dark with chick on day 18. I did have to open once due to egg looking suspiciously wet. Glad I did. It was rotten. The firstling went really fast, so when it gets going it should go gangbusters! Thinking great hatch for you.

I had some late ones last time. I took one out- really quickly- and candled to find that the chick had internally pipped. Next day they were pipping! Don't give up yet. I have an LG too- and even though I move my eggs around I think there are still some cool spots in there.

* Make sure your humidity is up!

How did you keep up your humidity? I have the moisture ring full and I added a sponge.

And how long did you have the egg out for when candling?

My mom keeps asking me if we can candle and I keep telling her no. She's driving me nuts!

Just grab one egg- without opening the bator all the way. Make sure it's really dark- because it's harder to see at this late stage. Don't turn the egg! You may be able to see a little protrusion into the airsac- that's the beak I'm assuming. It's pretty neat to see.

I fill up my water channels and maybe add a really wet washcloth rolled up. Plug the holes until the humidity goes up- then take one of the plugs back out to keep it from getting too high. Once they start hatching- take the other plug out for circulation.

I haven't had any issues with the chicks getting out doing it this way- but sometimes they are a little sticky- and take some time to dry.

But- remember- you may not see any pips for a day or too. You still have time. Make sure that the egg you candled goes back in the same position.

Still with a single lonely fuzz butt. He goes nuts when I come in the room, chirping and trying to find company. Its enough to break ones' heart. I have 19 still to go and tonite is the end of day 20. Day 21 tomorrow. I'm ever hopeful.
