day 20 no progress, would it be ok to candle?

NOOOOOOOOOOO lol dont even open the bator during loockdown just wait till day 24 if posible with the right tem and hum if nothign then thats sad.

If you are sure there are no external pips then it is fine. I've candeled up until I see the first pip and my chicks hatch with no problems! In fact, the day my eggs went into lockdown I candeled them all and had at least 4 internal pips and an external pip within a few hours. This was just yesterday and already I have one hatched and 4 more external pips.
The risk of shrink wrapping is only present when the chick pops a whole through the shell in his egg. Otherwise you are in the clear. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always helped a chick if it needed it! Just make sure that if you open it you add more humidity such as more water. What are your temps and humidity? the temp should be 2 degrees lower for "lockdown" and the humidity60 - 70 anything above and they can asfixiate in the egg, anything less and they can shrink wrap! When you candle the egg you can see if they've pipped by rotating the egg but make sure you mark wich side was up so that they are in the same position when you put them down! If they are dead they will not have a definitive line. It will be super fuzzy and greyish black. They will have shapes in there that can be taken as feathers if they are still alive! You might also see movement!

I candled and nothing yet! getting kind of anxious, its actually day 19 1/2 since they were put in late afternoon around 2 or 3 ish, getting nervous i dont see anything though

i'm on day 21 today and have nothing going on. i did candle today and saw some movement in some of the eggs so i'm going to give it a while. this is really nerve wracking huh????

Day 20 for me too. This is my first time with my new Genesis 1588. I SWORE I would not let myself get all nervous and worked up over this

I candled before lockdown and all looked good, but nothing is happening! They aren't rolling around or making any noises and no pips yet. I can't stop staring at them through the window

It seems like something should be happening, but they just sit there. Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!

Try to be patient heara. ( I am staring in my bator as I write this) but mine didn't start til day 22. I have 4 in the brooder and 2 pips. Still have a way to go tho..... They will come out when they are ready. My temps fluctuated a lot so I'm thinkin that is why mine are late. Good luck. Sending happy hatching vibes your way

It is not at all uncommon for NOTHING TO HAPPEN until day 21, and sometimes later. Remember that "21 days is the average number of days for chicken egg incubation." AVERAGE. That means some hatch before, some hatch later, but the majority of eggs hatch around the 21st day.

Patience, grasshopper!

LOL, thank you masta!

Its day 21 for half and day 18 for other half and still nothing from any of them...Tonight is gonna be a long night, i have a few banty eggs in there and last i candled the eggs were completely drk but they were still moving so i think those will end up being my first hatches
