One more question, please... at what point should I see the "zip" line around the egg starting?

It varies to be honest. I've had them start to zip 24 hrs after pip and I've had them pip and immediately start zipping. Zips don't last long. Around 20 minutes.

no pips... I did the float test and it seems they are viable so I will wait another day or so. Neither of the eggs floated more that just a bit out of the water. I read the dead rule was 45% or more above... Is that accurate?

I'd just wait. I've never had any success with the float test, so I can't say.

I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture but it doesn't look brown

Egg looks good to me, just don't open the incubator. Sometimes it takes a while before they zip. It's hard not to help, I learned the hard way. Lost a few but saved a few too

Opening the bator is not going to kill the chick!

Only making the point because they did the float test on the others, so opening the bator has already happened.

@tjb the pipped one in the last pic looks fine for now. Try to be patient until its pushing the 24-hour mark from when it first broke the shell. Unless it looks to be struggling, or totally stuck, try and give it some time. Its got a nice big hole to breath through, so there is no suffocation danger to worry about.
